Since 2018, EMERGE conference has become the hotbed for tech founders, community leaders, bigger companies, and investors from across the New East — including countries from Eastern Europe, the Balkans, and Central Asia. In 2022, EMERGE took place in the Armenian capital city for the first time. Let’s take a look at the numbers behind the event.
61 countries
Almost 3000 attendees from 61 countries participated in the conference in 2022. From Hawaii to Singapore, they connected, discussed hot topics about the trends shaping the future, and listened to the founders’ stories. Here are the top 10 countries represented at EMERGE 2022 (in alphabetical order):
82 speakers
At EMERGE 2022, there were three stages: the Main stage, the Campfire, and the Pitch stage. The agenda was divided into two main tracks: #Founderstories and #Trendwatching. We were happy to see 82 speakers sharing their insights at the stages including online radio streams.
270 startups
270 startups joined us at EMERGE 2022. Those exciting founders come to the conference to learn, network, make deals and become the next unicorn in their industry.
9 winners at EMERGE CHALLENGE
Around 140 startups competed in the pitching competition in 9 industry tracks: HealthTech, EdTech, DeepTech, B2C & Marketplaces, B2B, E-commerce, FinTech, HRTech, Creative Tech & Marketing Tech. The criteria for winners were: a working prototype (for deep tech/hardware startups only), first traction (users/clients), a product that is scalable to many geographics, funding that was previously received up to €5 mln, and up to 5 years since incorporation. The companies themselves could be incorporated anywhere, but their founders had to be originally from the New East region. As a result, 124 startups in 1/4 EMERGE CHALLENGE and 61 in 1/2. 45 judges picked the following winners within nine tracks:
192 startups at the Startup Alley
192 startups showcased their products through startup booths at the Startup Alley during 2 days of the event.
100 startups at the EMERGE 100 Report
EMERGE 100 report was initiated last year by the team and partners of EMERGE tech conference to spotlight emerging tech startups from the New East region. This year we have more B2B and Healthtech & Wellbeing startups. Moreover, we created a special section showcasing Ukrainian startups in different industries to support startups from Ukraine. You can download the report on our website.
106 mentorship sessions
EMERGE is always packed with things to do, and 2022 was no exception. 97 hours of mentorship sessions took place before the event, 113 mentors gave valuable recommendations to startups in different areas. Among them, here is the list of 10 mentors who were booked the fastest:
285 investors and corporates
With so many startups, investors are never far behind. 285 business angels, VCs, and corporates attended the event, setting up meetings and connecting with the startups over two days.
32 media
32 media came to EMERGE 2022 to analyse the state of the technology in the New East, highlight the trends and interview the tech talents, startups, and investors.
113 people in the EMERGE Team made it all happen
23 team members were working day and night to make EMERGE 2022 happen. The whole team and 77 volunteers dedicated their time, energy, and efforts to make you enjoy the event during those hot days in Yerevan.
