George is a Fintech expert, with a background in investment banking, entrepreneurship, building and scaling global products, and venture capital. This wide but one-direction-oriented expertise allows him to highlight current trends in Savings and Decentralized Finance, social gaming and commerce, as well as innovation in the e-commerce stack, – that’s what he’s responsible for as a Partner at Sequoia Capital, the legendary VC fund, one of the first investors of Apple, Google, WhatsApp and many other IT-stars.
Working in an investment field, George says that in his personal life he’s “forever grateful for the generosity of strangers”, as at the age of 10 his parents told him they can send him to any school he wanted if he got enough scholarships. So he “learned the importance of a good deal at a young age”.
In his student years, George co-founded Kickstart London, the UK’s largest student-run accelerator program, and he still holds ties with it, staying as a Member of the Advisory Board supporting Kickstart Global in developing the next generation of student entrepreneurs. Before joining Sequoia, he was one of the early team at Revolut, where he helped to build and scale FinTech’s subscription product, Revolut Premium, worldwide. Over that time he hired more than 2,000 people into the company and grew the paid user base 45-fold in three years. He finally joined Sequoia Capital as part of the team launching the new European office.
